Dairy Cow Shares
Gallups Market Garden is a pickup location for raw milk! We work with a local Amish farm that sells cow shares to bring raw milk to the community. Jersey cow milk on average contains 18% more protein, 20% more calcium and 25% more butter fat than average whole milk. The blended A2A2 herd is managed by a 5th generation Amish Dairyman. Herd health/testing is monitored by an independent lab every 6 months. One share costs $50 (one-time fee). You would also be responsible for paying a boarding fee of $8.50/week (paid quarterly). One share would entitle you to 1 gallon of raw milk per week.

Order Jars
You will need three 1-gallon jars per milk share. You can purchase them here. This is how we handled our weekly rotation—at all times we will have two of your jars and you will have one.
Be sure to write your name on the lid of each jar. It is your responsibility to leave a clean, sanitized jar each week when you come to pick up your milk.

Drop Off Payment, Contract, and Jars
You'll need to drop off your signed contract and payment ($50 for the share plus $8.50 x the number of weeks left in the calendar quarter). You will also drop off two of your jars (per share) at this time.
Each quarter you will need t0 drop off a check for the boarding fees for that quarter.

Pickup Your Milk!
Pickup days are Fridays (8am-8pm) and Saturdays (8am-3pm). Stop by our farm stand, located at 10580 Tefft Ave NE, Rockford, MI 49341, anytime between those hours to pick up your milk. At this time you will also leave 1 (per share) clean/sanitized jar on the shelf to the right of the fridge. Your fresh milk will be in the fridge labeled "Milk."

What is a "CSA"?CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a partnership between the farm and its community. You commit for a season of produce in advance. This allows us to calibrate how much produce to grow. Most of the farms costs come at the beginning of the season, securing capital and customers gives us a guaranteed market. In return the farm harvests the "cream of the crop" for its members. The CSA model creates a direct connection between farmers and eaters.

Is Gallups Market Garden certified organic? We do grow organically however we choose not to certify organic with the USDA. Certified organic is not the gold standard it once was. There are several pesticides approved for organic use, but we believe that toxic substances, no matter their origins, should not be applied to our food. We never use pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or any type of chemical sprays. We grow with only non-GMO and certified organic seed varieties. We prefer to think of our farm as beyond organic!

Why Raw Milk?Raw milk is full of nutritional benefits. It contains much more amino acids, antimicrobials, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids than pasteurized milk. The pasteurization process kills off the live, healthy bacterias.
